Getting Started
Make sure you have everything you need: the glucometer, test strips and a lancing device
Steps to Check Your Blood Sugar
Wash Your Hands: Clean hands are essential for an accurate reading. Use soap and water to wash and dry thoroughly.
Prepare the Lancing Device: Load the lancing device with a new lancet. This is the tiny, sharp needle that will prick your finger.
Insert the Test Strip: Place a test strip into the glucometer and it will turn on.
Prick Your Finger: Use the lancing device to prick the side of your fingertip.
Collect a Blood Sample: Squeeze your finger gently to get a small drop of blood and place it on the test strip.
Read the Results: Wait for the glucometer! Most devices give you a reading within a few seconds.
Record Your Results: Keep a log of your blood sugar levels. This helps you and your healthcare provider monitor your condition effectively.
What should my numbers be?
